Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

Biochemistry and molecular biology are sciences that seek to understand how cells and molecules function to make life possible. Growth, development, reproduction, genetics, sensory function, memory, immunological responses, disease, and, in fact, every variety of biological response can be explained in terms of the structures and interactions of cells and molecules. Biochemists and molecular biologists study such events using analytical and quantitative methodologies in the chemical and physical sciences, including recombinant DNA or gene splicing techniques.

Many biochemistry and molecular biology students go on to graduate, medical, or other types of professional schools, while others find employment in industrial, pharmaceutical, government, or university research laboratories.
