Chemistry

Chemistry provides us with a way to understand the world around us. It is a central science that focuses on matter - its structure, properties, and transformations - at the level of molecules. Chemistry is a practical science and has influenced many aspects of our daily lives. Students who are strongly interested in the why and how of science enjoy the chemistry major, in which a core of chemistry courses is supported by mathematics and physics courses. Most chemistry students participate in research projects in addition to their classroom work. Graduates go on to graduate and professional schools or choose employment in the research, marketing, or business activities of industry related to chemistry.
