— Terence J. Dwyer, of Harding, New
Jersey, who received his bachelor's degree from the Eberly College

by the Penn State Alumni Association. Established in 1973, the award,
which is a lifelong title conferred upon its recipient, is the most
prestigious honor given by the association.

of engineering at BEA Systems in San Jose, California, until his retirement
in 2002. He led the Office of Technology and Engineering, which provides
research and software development to the engineering groups within BEA’s

at Bell Labs, Dwyer and his team developed the TUXEDO™ System, a
software package for building and managing Distributed Business Applications
that is used in a variety of industries worldwide. In 1996 the TUXEDO™
System and programming team were acquired by BEA Systems, where Dwyer

2000, was appointed BEA’s chief technology officer.
He was honored in 2001 by the Eberly College of Science
with the Outstanding Science Alumni Award.
