Kanwal Coauthors Mathematics Book
Ram P. Kanwal, professor emeritus of mathematics at Penn State, and Ricardo Estrada, professor of mathematics at the University of Costa Rica, have written a new book titled Singular Integral Equations, published by Birkhauser Boston.
This work focuses both on the classical and the distributional solutions of singular integral equations, progressing from basic concepts of the classical theory to the more difficult two-dimensional problems. Integral-equation methods can be used more effectively than differential-equation techniques to solve many problems in applied mathematics, engineering, and mathematical physics.
The book follows a systematic progression from basic conscepts to more advanced distribution solutions. Incorporting extensive examples, illustrations, and problem sets, the text is suitable for beginning graduate-level courses or for self study by scientists and engineers.
