Mullen Co-Edits Volume in Contemporary Mathematics Series

Gary Mullen, professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics, and Ronald C. Mullin, of the University of Waterloo in Canada, have co-edited a recently published book of refereed papers presented at the international conference titled “Finite Fields: Theory, Applications, and Algorithms.”  The authors also co-organized the conference, held at the University of Waterloo.

Finite fields play important roles in diverse areas of mathematics and have an increasing number of applications in other disciplines, such as engineering, computer science, and information science.  The book, titled Finite Fields: Theory, Applications, and Algorithms, is a volume in the American Mathematical Society’s Contemporary Mathematics series.  The papers in this volume concern both the theoretical and the applied aspects of finite fields.
