Mike previously worked in the College of Communications where he served as assistant director of development from 2002 to 2005. A native of State College, Weyandt graduated from Penn State in 1995 with a bachelor of science degree in exercise and sport science—since renamed kinesiology. He is enjoying meeting Eberly College of Science alumni, and looks forward to increasing financial support for the college by strengthening previous relationships and beginning new ones.

He taught health and physical education in the Mifflin County School District from 1996 to 1999 and was a physical education teacher at the State College Area High School in 1995 and 1996. He taught physical education workshops at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, from 2000 to 2003, and was a computer instructor and work-site supervisor for the Private Industry Council of Center County from 1993 to 1995.

Weyandt enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan, and their two children, Alexis and Matthew. In his free time, he can be found participating in various sports as well as hunting and fishing. He currently serves on the United Way Committee of Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations. He also is a volunteer for the National Wild Turkey Federation. He has volunteered as the middle-school-soccer coach for boys in the State College Area School District from 2000 to 2003, and as a varsity-soccer coach for boys at the Indian Valley High School from 1997 to 1999. He has been a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and is a member of the State College Elks Club. He also is actively involved in the Pine Hall Lutheran Church.
