Jerry L. Workman, the Paul Berg Professor of Biochemistry and an associate investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, has co-edited a book titled Chromatin Structure and Gene Expression, published by Oxford University Press. Part of the publisher's "Frontiers in Molecular Biology" series, the book provides an update from a 1995 edition and represents an expanded and updated review on topics related to chromatin structure and gene expression. Workman joined the Penn State faculty as an assistant professor in 1992. He is the only faculty member at the University working as an associate investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He earned his doctoral degree in cell and molecular biology at the University of Michigan in 1985 and his bachelor's degree in biological sciences at Northern Illinois University in 1979. <S W S>
