You who invested in Penn State's Eberly College of Science during the past academic year have made a significant difference for all who work, study, teach, and discover in this college. You have strengthened our role as one of the leading institutions of science education and have made possible an excellence that would be impossible with tuition or state funds alone.
Your gifts are both large and small. They came to us as cash, securities, pledges, donations of equipment, plans in estates, and other means. Most of your gifts were for very special designated purposes, such as a particular academic department, a named scholsrship endowment for a beloved teacher or family member, or for the new Chemistry and Life Sciences Builings. Virtually all of your gifts brought direct benefit to faculty, students, and programs. Many of you gave more than once. Each gift was important.
Annual gifts provide critical support for financial aid, technology enhancements, and state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities for full-time undergraduate and graduate students and our talented and dedicated faculty and staff. Between July 1, 2005, and July 30, 2006, 4,162 alumni, parents, friends, and organizations contributed 5,772 gifts totalling $5,839,454 to the Eberly College of Science. These gifts enrich the intellectual life of the Penn State community and keep the college strong.
Thank you for your tremendous support!
Sincerely,
Robert Mothersbaugh
Director of Alumni Relations and Development
