What are the Program Expectations? |
|||||
| During
the year, many different activities will be offered as a part of the Pennypacker
Experience. Some activities will be social, while others will be informational
or educational. The Advisory Board, along with the PAs and RAs will plan
most of the activities, but your input and ideas also will be sought via
the hall government system.
Your attendance and participation is expected at these activities. It’s not enough just to live in the residence hall; we also want you to be involved actively with the Pennypacker Experience community and its activities. In other words, there’s more to college than eating, sleeping, and going to class. Residence hall and other extracurricular activities are very important. You will receive newsletters and fliers announcing the Pennypacker Experience activities throughout the year. Note them on your calendar and plan to attend! All incoming Bunton-Waller students are required to register for African-American Studies (AAA S 003), the Bunton-Waller Freshman Seminar Course. This course intends to foster an academic community in a residential environment. The course addresses topics that pertain to such a community and seeks to enhance students’ academic and social experiences in college. The major goals of the course are to help the students learn to:
Bunton-Waller Fellows are not permitted to pledge a fraternity or sorority during their freshman year. Prior to involvement in such activities, students are required to meet with their college director. Past experience has shown that participation in such activities can negatively effect student grades; thereby, resulting in the loss of scholarship. Finally, during the year, the Pennypacker Experience program will be
evaluated, and participants will be asked to complete questionnaires. Your
opinion counts, so be sure to honestly evaluate your experience. We need
your constructive criticism. |
