Have you always dreamed of becoming a doctor, medical researcher, or health care professional? Do you think it is too late to enter another profession? It is not! Penn State can help you change your life with this new fifteen-month Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Certificate Program at the University Park campus.
This program is for a select group of academically talented, highly motivated college graduates who do not have a science background, but who now wish to prepare for admission to medical school or to dental, optometry, podiatry, veterinary, physical therapy, or allied health schools. In just fifteen months, you will learn what you need to know to take the next step in your new chosen field. And your schedule can be flexible - you may enroll as either a full-time or part-time student and attend either regular daytime or a limited selection of evening science courses.
The program consists of 38 credits of prerequisite science courses - General Biology, Cell Biology, Human Physiology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics and two seminar courses in the Basic Science and Disease and a survey of the Medical Professions. All courses including labs can be completed in two semesters and two summer sessions or in four semesters. Also available are courses in Medical Ethics, Health Policy Administration, upper-level courses in Biochemistry, Physiology, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Immunology, Anatomy.
