for the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Certificate Program
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for admission, you must have:- a degree in a non-life science major from an accredited university or college
- earned a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale)
- earned a minimum SAT score of 1100 (Math and Critical Reading), or a minimum ACT score of 24, or a minimum GRE score of 1100 (Verbal and Quantitative with no single score being lower than 500).
- volunteer experience in the community or in a health care setting
The program is not remedial. It is not intended for students who already have a science background and want to bolster their academic record in science. (That can be accomplished by enrolling at Penn State as a nondegree student or in a one-year master's degree program.)
How do I apply?
To apply for admission to the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Certificate program, you must:
1. complete an application form. Download application here.
2. enclose a nonrefundable application fee of $25
3. submit the following:
- official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended.
- two letters of recommendation, at least one from a college instructor or adviser
- a resume
- SAT or other standardized test scores

Tuition and Financial Aid
Penn State offers a strong educational experience at a reasonable price to all qualified students. In-state tuition for the 2008-09 school year at University Park was $7,035 per semester for full time students (12 or more credits) and $586 per credit for part-time students (fewer than 12 credits). Out-of-state tuition was $12,727 per semester for full-time students and $1,061 per credit for part-time students. The student activities and computer fees for both Pennsylvania and out-of-state students was $346. Adult learners are considered for financial aid on a case-by-case basis; for more information, contact the Office of Student Aid, 314 Shields Building, (814) 865-6301.
Housing
Adult learners are considered for on-campus housing on a case-by-case basis. Contact the Housing Referral Service (201 Johnston Commons, 814-865-7501) for information about on-campus housing.
For off-campus housing, the Community Life Office (814-865-2346) maintains up-to-date lists and information about alternative housing arrangements. A listing of local real-estate agents is also available at the Penn State Web site: http://www.sa.psu.edu/ocl
